We are thrilled to share remarkable news from the North State: the Enloe Health Foundation has met and exceeded its philanthropic target to bring the new Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center (GCC) to life. Enloe Health
This milestone is not just about numbers—it’s about hope, community, and the power of what happens when people unite behind a vision. In this post, we’ll explore what this means for the region, the role of the campaign, and how the The Jensen Group has been honored to support this effort and our community hospital since 2018.
A Vision for the Region’s Cancer Care
For decades, cancer has posed a significant health challenge across Northern California’s North State. According to the American Cancer Society, roughly 41% of men and 39% of women will develop cancer at some point in their lifetimes. Enloe Health Many counties in this region face late-stage diagnoses, limited access to advanced treatments, and a need to travel long distances for care.
Recognizing this need, Enloe embarked on a bold journey: to build a state-of-the-art facility in Chico where patients from the surrounding rural, underserved areas could access diagnostics, treatment, and support—all under one roof. Enloe Health+1
Spanning about 100,000 – 107,000 square feet, the center will include infusion and treatment rooms, linear accelerators (for advanced radiation therapy), pharmacy spaces engineered for chemotherapy safety, education and wellness resources, supportive therapies, and family meeting rooms. KRCR+1
Construction is well underway at Meriam Park in Chico, with an anticipated opening in summer or late 2026. Enloe Health+1
The Campaign and Fundraising Success
The fundraising arm of this project has been a cornerstone of its success. Here are some key highlights:
-
The goal was set at $20 million for the cancer-center campaign. Enloe Health
-
Not only did the campaign reach this goal, but it has also exceeded it—thanks to community generosity. Enloe Health
-
A public Facebook-post milestone cited the campaign at nearly $19.9 million of the $20 million goal at one point. Facebook
-
The “Campaign Donors” list showcases over 2,000 supporters—including gifts ranging from $10,000 to $10 million+. Enloe Health
-
Important to note: the total cost of the project (building + equipment + site) is estimated around $154 million; bonds and other funding sources cover much of that, with philanthropy playing a critical part in making the vision possible. KRCR
This campaign isn’t merely about brick and mortar—it’s about ensuring patients don’t have to travel hundreds of miles, get timely diagnoses, and access emerging therapies close to home.
The Jensen Group’s Role & Commitment
We at The Jensen Group have felt privileged to play a part in this journey, and have been proud donors to Enloe Health since 2018. Here’s why this matters to us:
-
Local roots, global impact. Our team is based in Chico and serves clients across our community. Investing in the region’s healthcare infrastructure aligns with our values of local stewardship and giving back.
-
Sustained commitment. Since 2018, we’ve made annual contributions and supported awareness efforts for Enloe’s Compassion Fund and the fundraising efforts for the cancer center. We believe in consistent support—not just one-time giving.
-
More than donation—it’s advocacy. We’ve shared the story of the Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center with clients and referral networks, emphasizing how access to top-tier cancer care locally benefits families, employers, and the regional economy.
-
A future legacy. By supporting this initiative, we’re helping build not only a facility, but also a legacy of hope and health for generations in the North State, because we all know someone that has been impacted by cancer.
We believe that when local businesses invest in healthcare infrastructure, the ripple effects are profound: improved workforce health, stronger community morale, and the ability to recruit and retain top-tier providers.
What’s Next — Why It Matters
With the fundraising goal met, what comes next?
-
Construction acceleration. With philanthropic support secured, more resources can go into facility design, equipment purchase, and recruitment of specialized staff.
-
Service expansion. The new center will allow Enloe to offer therapies and diagnostics previously unavailable locally—reducing travel burden and improving outcomes. Enloe Health+1
-
Community benefit. Patients and their families will find care closer to home. This means less disruption, less cost, and better emotional support.
-
Talent attraction. A modern cancer-care facility elevates the region’s appeal to top doctors, researchers, and allied health professionals. KRCR
-
Legacy building. This campaign demonstrates what happens when a community unites around a philanthropic mission—something that sets a precedent for future health initiatives.
In Gratitude
To every donor, volunteer, patient advocate, and community partner: thank you. Your generosity has turned vision into action.
For us at The Jensen Group, this milestone isn’t just a fundraising success—it’s a reaffirmation of our belief in community, care, and contribution. We’re proud to stand alongside Enloe and the many others who made this possible.
Cancer doesn’t care about geography. But the reality is: access to advanced care often does. This center bridges that gap for a region that deserves world-class oncology services close to home.
By reaching this fundraising target, the community has sent a clear message: we care, we act, and we invest in each other.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
